My
Story
A journey of love, learning and community.

Hi, I’m Chloe – and I’m so glad you’re here.
I’m the founder of Little Ears Somerset and a proud mum to a little boy with hearing loss.
I also grew up with hearing loss myself, wearing hearing aids from the age of six. Over the years, I’ve had multiple types of hearing technology — from bilateral aids and BAHAs to the Osia I now use — and I’ve had several surgeries, including Stapedectomies to replace the bones in my middle ear.
Starting Again as a Parent
When my son was born, life took a path I hadn’t predicted. It was filled with uncertainty, worry and love — all at once.
Before the newborn hearing screening, I had a feeling in my gut. When the results came back inconclusive, medical professionals tried to reassure me. But I knew. I knew what this meant — because I’d lived it.
The overwhelm hit hard. The anxiety, the guilt. I grew up with hearing loss, and for a long time, it was my biggest insecurity.
Searching for Connection
In those early weeks, I searched online for someone — anyone — who would understand. Not just empathise, but truly get it.
I scrolled through TikTok, looked for families like ours, and searched for support here in Somerset. I felt frustrated, isolated and, honestly, a bit angry. I needed a community.
Eventually, I found a small support group that met every eight weeks, and while it helped, I still longed for more. I wanted to feel connected in between those meetings — to talk, vent, share milestones and worries.
So, I started a WhatsApp group with some of the other families I’d met. It quickly became clear we all felt the same: Somerset needed more. More support. More connection. More love.
The 4am Moment
Then one night at 4am, the name came to me: Little Ears Somerset. And I knew — this was it.
I’m not a charity or a professional organisation. I’m just a mum who didn’t want others to feel as alone as I once did.
Why This Space Exists
Whether you’ve just received a diagnosis, you’re a few steps into the journey, or you’re simply looking for someone to walk alongside you — I’m so glad you’re here.
Little Ears Somerset was built from love, need, vulnerability and strength. It’s here for every family navigating deafness or hearing loss — with big hearts, brave steps and a lot of love.
